05/04/08 K.O. 14.30 Cup Match Photos and Highlights Next Match League table

Unbeaten since the middle of February Musselburgh made light work of a tough Dubar side and shocking weather conditions to set them up for next weeks 1/4 Final at home to Camelon.

There were so many possitives for the visitors the management team will be happy this weekend again. Matti King coming on as a second half sub was a fantastic sight after he has worked hard this season, David Turnbull also returning. After CJ scoring a hat-trick last week, Chris King matched him with a 'perfect' 3 goals, the whole team played a high tempo and had a great attitude and passed the ball well and league results went their way with Newtongrange and Kinnoull sharing the points.

The match was played in driving rain and freezing conditions but the visitors play lit up New Countess Park and Chris King had the golden touch again after only two minutes heading in a pin point Tansey cross. Ten minutes later King beat the offside trap and after rounding the impressive MacLean passed the ball in with the left foot. Move of the match ended Dunbars hopes. Good passing from Devlin to Tansey and a great cross again from Paul Tansey and Chris King completed his hat trick by brilliantly dirrecting the ball into the corner on the rise with one touch. - A superb finish. It should have been four but Kings good penalty was matched with a top drawer save. But the fourth goal was coming, a corner swung in and captain Wes Mitchell powered in a header to settle the tie. Then on the stroke of half time Craig McManus was ajudged to have stopped a goal scoring chance and was given a straight red and Dunbar pulled a goal back.

Half time saw Paul Currie come on for Danny Kelly, who again looked good and more good news with Matti King given a run out after nearly two years out. The third sub David Turnbull will give Musselburgh a massive boost in their bid to gain promotion and cup success.

The second half saw many chances for the visitors with Chris King nearly finishing a great move and Matti King twice denied by the keeper. Paul Currie and Paul Tanseys power and pace were causing the home team problems and the two combined to set up Matti King who again found the keeper at his best. Currie had another shot just wide and at the other end the great Colin McDonald found Polowj on top form too. The Musselburgh fifth goal came from a tansey corner and Paul Currie banged in a great header as Musselburgh declared on five.

It would be easy after the highs of the last few months for Musselburgh to switch off for this game, but credit to the team who had the right attitude and the tempo of the game was exactly right. It is a pity that the crowd decided to stay away, no doubt will return for next Saturday's mouth watering 1/4 final against super league leaders and giants Camelon at Olivebank. With so many players coming into form and returning from injury Musselburgh have nothing to fear although must have the same attitude that has proved so successful this season.
